HOCHIHMINH CITY, Vietnam - February 20, 2003 - Cisco Systems is widening its knowledge transfer activities with the establishment of a Systems Engineer (SE) Club. Targeted at technical employees of Cisco-certified systems integrators, distributors, resellers and retailers, the club aims to help these companies raise the bar in customer satisfaction as well as help them become more productive and profitable.
The SE Club will focus on four key technology areas: IP Telephony, Routing and Switching; Security; and Wireless. Each technology area will be headed by Cisco experts who will update members on the latest innovations as well as advanced networking techniques.
"This new club meets perfectly our need to stay updated on the latest networking technologies. More importantly, it enables us to tap on the experience of networking experts from Cisco. This is another example of how Cisco has been incrementally improving the levels of networking skills in the country," said Mr. Ngo Vi Dong, Director of HPT Vietnam Co.
"Cisco's strategy has always been to transfer knowledge to our channels, both in terms of technology and technical expertise, as well as how to improve their market potential. The end goal is increased customer satisfaction," said Ms. Elizabeth Lawson, Director, Asia Pacific Channels, Cisco Systems. "I am happy to see that our Vietnamese channel partners have a tremendous hunger to learn and to succeed and this SE Club gives them another avenue to pick up important skills."
Initially, the SE Club will take in 15 to 20 SEs for each of the four key technology areas. Their progress will be closely monitored through frequent tests and certifications. The learning path will take them through important technology specializations and prepares them to take the Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineer (CCIE) examination. CCIE is the most widely respected certification for Internet and networking skills.
"I have immense pride in the innate talent of our Vietnamese professionals. This club will help channel their talent in the right directions and increase their skills to match the best and brightest around the world. We hope to eventually expand our transfer knowledge activities even wider in future so that more people in the country can gain access to the skills that matter in the 21st century, said Ha Huy Hao, Chief Representative, Cisco Systems Vietnam.
