SYDNEY, Australia -- 16 November 2001 -- Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today opened its Asia Pacific Executive Briefing Center (EBC) in its Sydney office, bringing world class technology demonstrations directly to its Australian and regional customers.

The EBC facility is one of only four across the world and is modeled on the successful EBC at Cisco's global Headquarters in San Jose, California. Showcasing state-of-the-art technology, the Sydney EBC provides customers and partners an environment to customize the latest Cisco Internet technologies to their needs and consult simultaneously with Cisco experts in Australia and worldwide.

"Cisco is very committed to the Asia Pacific region and our customers are increasingly eager to work with our technology solutions in live operational environments. Traditionally, that would require them to visit our global Headquarters in the US. With the Sydney EBC, customers here have a choice of locations to visit," said Gordon Astles, President, Cisco Asia Pacific.

In a world first, the Sydney EBC will have direct communication links with the San Jose EBC using Internet technologies. This facility will use Mimio whiteboard technology and high-end videoconference equipment to give customers live access to Cisco executives worldwide.

The facility is located at level 10 of Cisco's 80 Pacific Highway, North Sydney offices and includes a 60-to-100-seat capacity multimedia-equipped theatre, showcasing Cisco's Internet solutions, hardware and software. The theatre is equipped with a four-panel video wall, flat plasma screens, AMX touch-pad control equipped lectern, and soundproof voice demonstration booths.

Cisco Managing Director, Australia & New Zealand, Terry Walsh, said the construction of the Sydney EBC was a first for Australian corporate property development and architecture. "We are very excited to be able to offer this state-of-the-art facility in Sydney. It offers our customers here and in the region an opportunity to work with our products and solutions in a world-class facility."
