MEXICO CITY, 25 February 2015.- Today Cisco inaugurated its Global Services Center (GSC) that hosts the Global Technical Center, Latin America Technical Assistance Center, and the Global Delivery Center. It will be supporting customers worldwide to provide services through multiple functional groups that encompass Cisco® Services, Finance, Operations and others.

Equipped with state of the art technology, it is based in the southern area of Mexico City, at Insurgentes Sur, in over 9,200 m2.The site has 138 closed spaces including meeting rooms, quiet rooms, and audio privacy rooms; 22 have the newest generation of Cisco TelePresence® systems. It has also five e-cafes. The GSC will host about 360 employees.

The staff located in the GSC will be able to support customers in order to plan, build and manage their network and solution. In order to replicate the issues that customers may face, there are two laboratories; the main one will be part of a worldwide network of laboratories accessed both on site and remotely by our engineering staff in order to solve the most complex customer issues. The labs also help to re-create environments to prove configurations and designs before its deployment. Current supported technologies are Routing and Switching, Collaboration, Security, DataCenter, Mobility, Wireless, SP Video, and TelePresence.

The labs will also be used to apply the hands-on lab for the CCIE ‑ Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert ‑ one of the highest certifications offered by Cisco, and worldwide considered as the most prestigious networking certification in the industry.

The main TelePresence room deployed is an iX5000 system, a world-class quality video collaboration experience that requires only half of the bandwidth through a H.265 compression compared to the previous three screen systems and requires less power than a hair dryer.

As long as the engineers based in this site perform business critical functions with our end customers, the IT infrastructure complies with the highest industry standards in terms of resiliency and reliability. It includes full redundancy of voice, video and data circuits as well as backup power systems.

Space distribution and branding were determined after multiple architectural workshops that involved employees and managers alike. The outcome is a variety of collaboration, working, and creativity areas that are intended to foster innovation and breakthrough thinking.

Cisco is investing US$26 million in three years in this center, and counted with the Federal Government support, through the Prosoft initiative from the Ministry of Economy, and the  Mexico City Government through the Secretary of Economic Development.

“The Global Services Center in Mexico City reconfirms our commitment for a long lasting partnership with customers and the Mexican Government working with them to identify their needs and provide solutions that support their success. This center brings the best professionals supported by state of the art technology for a global service in three languages” said Rogelio Velasco, Vice President of Cisco Mexico.

The Mexico Cisco Global Services Center is part of the Global Services Centers of Cisco that include Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, USA; Bangalore, India; Krakow, Poland, and Dalian, China.
