Cisco has a long, proud history in the sports and entertainment world. We are the pioneers of industry-specific technology solutions that are currently used in more than 350 stadiums and venues in 35 countries around the world – including AT&T Stadium in Arlington; Levi's Stadium in San Francisco; the O2 Arena in London; the Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia, and more. In partnership with the biggest leagues, organizations, entertainment companies and sporting events in the world, we’re working to transform the spectator experience for golf enthusiasts at USGA events; enhance the live music experience for hundreds of thousands of music lovers at Live Nation’s festivals; and build swifter, faster networks to connect fans and media at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Today, we are proud to add to our legacy by announcing a new global multi-year partnership with City Football Group (CFG) to serve as an Official Technology Partner for five CFG clubs around the world. Together, our two organizations will focus on using technology to drive innovation for soccer enthusiasts; enhance connectivity for clubs, players and fans; and positively impact people and communities around the world through sport.

One of the things that we are most excited about is how this partnership is truly global in nature – establishing relationships with five teams across four continents: Premier League champions Manchester City; New York City FC; Melbourne City FC; Yokohama F. Marinos (Japan) and Sichuan Jiuniu FC (China), including the women’s teams of Manchester City and Melbourne City FC. A key element of our partnership will be using our networking and other solutions to enhance the operations of each club and strengthen connectivity across the Group as a whole.

In many ways, this partnership is a natural fit for our two global brands. Cisco technology has been deployed by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium for the past five years and continues to enhance the experience for fans throughout some of the most memorable seasons in team history. City Football Group is a global organization that is relentless in its pursuit of excellence and taps into people’s passions in a way that few other things can. We are excited about the opportunity to partner together and use technology to positively shape the business of football.

But this partnership is about much more than the game itself. Our collaboration will also center on supporting Cityzens Giving, the Group’s global foundation’s initiative that empowers young leaders in cities around the world to tackle social issues affecting their communities through the power of football. We will be partnering with the Foundation to fund a new community football project and help drive innovation and greater connectivity across Cityzens Giving’s network of young leaders worldwide.

As we embark on Cisco’s first major partnership with a football organisation in our history, we’re so excited to be diving into the sport in a major way. Stay tuned for news on exciting programs and opportunities to come through this partnership for Cisco employees, partners and customers around the world!
