Gary DePreta is the Senior Vice President of Cisco’s U.S. Public Sector Organization. He and his team partner with public sector customers to help them leverage Cisco technologies to improve the efficiency of government, to better educate communities, and to keep our nation safe.
Gary’s deep understanding of the public sector and their mission-critical objectives have been the key to his success. With decades of direct experience supporting public sector customers, Gary leads with a stewardship and a customer success mindset. His team consistently delivers results by ensuring they build close relationships and serve as trusted advisors to their public sector customers and partners.
With over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, Gary is a 16-year Cisco veteran with experience leading Cisco’s State & Local Government, Education, National Security, and Federal Civilian Agency verticals. He has additional years of experience in leadership positions at Splunk, International Network Services, and IBM.
Gary has a passion for community involvement and giving back. He was recognized for his fundraising efforts and was named the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2014 Man of the Year for the National Capital Area, previously serving as a Board Member for the Washington, DC, Chapter. He was also recognized for his industry leadership, winning a StateScoop 50 award for his work supporting state governments.
A veteran, Gary served in the U.S. Navy from 1983-1987 onboard the USS Elliot DD-967 in San Diego, California, where he was deployed on two overseas Western Pacific tours of duty. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Electronic Science, Cum Laude, from Iona University in New Rochelle, New York.
