Ammar Maraqa will be Cisco’s Chief Strategy Officer, leading the company’s Corporate Strategy, Development, and Incubation (CSDI) organization. With over 30 years of experience, he will guide overall strategic direction across acquisitions, investments, strategic partnerships, and emerging technology incubation efforts to create new markets and fuel growth. He will also lead the Office of the Chair and CEO, partnering with the Executive Leadership Team to accelerate innovation, alignment, and growth by driving cross-functional initiatives, operational cadence and business planning.
Ammar is the Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Splunk. Following the Splunk acquisition, he has been focused on driving the successful integration of Splunk across Cisco.
During his 10-year Splunk tenure, Ammar has been a key member of the executive leadership team that grew ARR from $300M to $5B and oversaw its transformation from a perpetual license on premise business to a cloud-based SaaS company. He has built and led multiple functions including Strategy, Corporate Development, Strategic Alliances, Pricing and Monetization, and the CISO organization.
Prior to joining Splunk, Ammar spent 10 years at Cisco, where he was Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy and led the Corporate Strategy team. He also led the Acquisition Integration team and was a member of the M&A and venture investments team. Before Cisco, he spent five years at Dell, where he held various product, marketing and operational leadership roles across multi-billion-dollar businesses. Ammar started his career at Bain & Company, where he was a Senior Associate working with companies to solve critical growth and scaling challenges.
He holds a dual Bachelor’ degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Computer Engineering and Finance, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. Ammar’s passion for deep learning also extends to his community where he served on the Board of the Bay Area Arabic School, a non-profit organization devoted to educating children and enhancing their connection to their cultural heritage.
