If you have been following the world of sports in 2024, you will have surely come across the name Nelly Korda.
The current World No. 1 LPGA Golfer has had a spectacular 2024 season not only on the golf course but also off the course as she continues to use her global platform to inspire the next generation of female athletes worldwide.
Korda’s success in 2024 is impressive yet not surprising, and the professionalism which she has displayed through it all is exactly why Cisco is proud to have her as a member of Team Cisco for the last five seasons.
When we look back on her incredible season, it’s hard not to acknowledge her seven (yes you read that right, seven!) LPGA Tour event wins, which started at the LPGA Drive On Championship in January and concluded with her capturing the title at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge in November. Her unwavering, consistent play throughout the season earned her both the Tour Player of the Year and the Rolex Annika Major Award for her outstanding performance at the five major championship events (including a win at the Chevron Championship). She also played an integral role in helping Team USA capture the Solheim Cup title, the team’s first win at the event since 2017. Consecutive individual wins in five straight appearances from March to May made her one of only three LPGA Tour players all-time (Nancy Lopez, Annika Sorenstam) to ever achieve such a feat, which ultimately earned her year-end No.1 honors on the LPGA Tour.
Off the course, Korda has been no stranger to the spotlight, as she could be seen walking the Red Carpet at the Met Gala in May, becoming the first golfer since Tiger Woods (2013) to attend the event alongside some of the most famous athletes and entertainers in the world. More recently, in November, Korda signed on for the first time to be part of the 2025 SI Swimsuit edition, which will be released in May of next year. On the personal front, Korda also became an aunt as her sister and fellow Team Cisco player Jessica Korda gave birth to her first child earlier this year.
While Korda has shown the ability to rack up wins on Tour and make an impact in the world of arts and culture, perhaps more impressive is the time she spends to support and inspire the next generation of female athletes globally. Take this moment at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open for example, which offers a glimpse into the work Korda has done consistently throughout her career. Korda even hosts her own AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) tournament, which was held for the first time this past May, giving girls ages 12-19 the opportunity to compete at a professional course (Concession Golf Club), learn from the superstar herself and pursue their golf dreams.
2024 has been an extraordinary year for the growth of women’s sports, and Nelly Korda has been a consistent leader in creating and maintaining the momentum behind this movement. Cisco is proud to support Korda not only because of how she wows us on the course, but more so because of how she is using her platform to inspire and power a more inclusive future for women in sports.
And that’s something we can all get behind.
