HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – 05 June 2015 – Cisco and the Management Authority for Urban Railways (MUAR) have announced a collaboration relating to the Integrated Telecommunications Control Center for the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Metro. This undertaking first involves developing a strategic Information Communication Technology (ICT) plan, following which MAUR will consider future stages of assessment and implementation for the transportation facility.

Ho Chi Minh City is the largest city in Vietnam with more than 12 million residents. Rapid urbanization has resulted in the need to examine the city's future mass transit framework and footprint. The government has therefore announced the Transport Plan for Ho Chi Minh City 2020 to upgrade the transport infrastructure, alleviate the congestion and improve access to reliable transport in the city.

As part of the agreement with MAUR, Cisco will provide consulting services, ICT architecture recommendations, and technical standards and guidelines, and will submit an implementation proposal, to help realize MAUR's vision for Ho Chi Minh Metro.

"We are excited about the collaboration with Cisco which reaffirms our commitment to transform Ho Chi Minh City through the use of outstanding expertise and experience. This consulting engagement with Cisco will enhance future user experience and increase the productivity of the city of Ho Chi Minh while we drive sustainable urbanization planning," said [insert name of MAUR spokesperson].

"Cisco continues to be committed to the development of Vietnam's IT infrastructure and the applications of it to various facets of local lives. The adoption of technology innovations in our society has led to big gains for our country. With this collaboration, Cisco and MAUR will lay the foundation for transforming Ho Chi Minh City into a smart and connected city of the future," said Thuy Thi Le Luong, General Director for Cisco Vietnam.

The collaboration between Cisco and MAUR is supported by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.
