SAN JOSE, California, February 1, 2013 - Cisco today announced the appointment of Greg Brown, Chairman and CEO of Motorola Solutions, Inc., to its board of directors effective January 31, 2013.

Brown, 52, is chairman and chief executive officer of Motorola Solutions, Inc. He joined Motorola in January 2003 and was elected to the company's board of directors in 2007. He became CEO of Motorola in January 2008 and led the spin-off of the consumer-focused Motorola Mobility in 2011. He also served as president and chief operating officer of Motorola beginning in March 2007. Prior to joining Motorola, he was chairman and CEO of Micromuse Inc. from 1999 to 2003.
Brown serves as deputy chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, vice chair of the US-China Business Council, and recently was named by the Business Roundtable to lead a select CEO committee on comprehensive immigration reform. He also is a member of The Business Council and Technology CEO Council. Additionally, Brown is a member of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Board, the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, and World Business Chicago. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics and an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Rutgers University, and also serves on the university's Board of Governors.
