MOSCOW, Sept 20, 2010 - The Virtual Computing Environment coalition, formed by Cisco, EMC and VMware participated in the grand opening of Tieto's new data center in Moscow. The new data center features a VblockTM Infrastructure Package to help customers implement a private cloud infrastructure based on industry-leading technology and take advantage of critical IT efficiencies. Vblock Infrastructure Packages are integrated, tested and validated data center infrastructure offerings that combine best-of-breed [virtualization, networking, computing, storage, security, and management technologies from Cisco, EMC and VMware"]– all with end-to-end vendor accountability.

Tieto chose mid-range Vblock 1 configuration providing a high level of scalability to easily adapt infrastructure packages to specific workloads. This Vblock includes EMC CLARiiON® storage solutions (secured by RSA®), Cisco Unified Computing SystemTM, Cisco Nexus® data center switches, and Cisco MDS multiprotocol storage area network switches , as well as VMware vSphere platform.

Vblock 1 infrastructure packages are the ideal choice to achieve the core objective of the new data center—giving the customers an opportunity to purchase computing resources according to current business needs while meeting all security, backup and recovery requirements. This "capacity on demand" concept provides customers with uninterrupted access to state-of-the-art technologies without additional investments.  On top of that, Vblock allows customers to save up to 40% on operational and management costs giving Tieto an opportunity to offer very attractive service pricing.

Tieto is actively investing in Russia as a priority market. On March 1, the company announced acquisition of Russian telecommunications equipment and service provider, T&T Telecom, and June 19 saw the announcement of Tieto's Center of Excellence for Oil and Gas in Russia.

"Vblock solutions are a real breakthrough in driving the journey to cloud computing," says Sergey Karpov, general manager, EMC Russia and CIS. "The Virtual Computing Environment coalition combines the best-of-breed products, and this Vblock deployment clearly shows that our clients recognized the benefits of these technologies at once."

"Vblock deployment in Tieto is an extremely important step for us," says Pavel Betsis, general director, Cisco Russia. "Tieto is the pioneer in the Russian high-technology data center service market , and Cisco, together with our alliance partners, EMC and VMware, is certain that this project will be an important event in the whole Russian IT market, giving us an opportunity to contribute to industry modernization."

"The Cisco, EMC, and VMware coalition solution suits our needs ideally," says Tuomo Summanen, country manager, Tieto Russia and CIS. "With their technologies, we are able to provide our customers with exactly as much computing capacity as they need."

The Virtual Computing Environment coalition was created to deliver to customers a significant increase in IT infrastructure flexibility and dramatic cost reduction through large-scale data center virtualization and transition to private cloud infrastructures. Vblock infrastructure packages offer trusted platforms for integrated IT infrastructures with scalability required to meet customer virtualization needs.
