MEXICO CITY, Mexico - September 23, 2010 - Community and corporate leaders, residents and elected officials  joined One Economy, Cisco and E-Mexico for a special premiere of www.InfoFacil.mx, a website that will connect low-income residents of Mexico to online interactive tools to improve their lives and enter the economic mainstream. Infofacil.mx, which is One Economy and Cisco's first joint initiative in Latin America, provides information on jobs, finances, health care, education, civil rights, and other issues pertinent to Mexico.

"We want to thank Cisco and One Economy for bringing this life-changing resource to Mexico," said Eloisa Talavera, Director of E-Mexico. "InfoFacil is a major step towards giving our people the tools they need to build their individual assets, strengthen their communities and improve the economy of Mexico."

In addition to bringing important resources to low-income residents, InfoFacil.mx also supports the Mexico government's National Development Plan, which includes increasing technology advancements in order to improve Mexico's economic outcomes.

"Working with our NGO partners, Cisco has seen firsthand the power of the Internet in transforming lives," said Michael Yutrzenka, senior director, Cisco Corporate Affairs. "Bringing technology to underserved communities relies on community engagement and private and public sector collaborations with dedicated organizations like One Economy and E-Mexico."

With funding from Cisco, One Economy facilitated an extensive community engagement process in developing the local content for InfoFacil. Organizations such as AMITI, E-Mexico, CEMEFI, SEDESOL, SRE, and the Embassy of Mexico in Washington were instrumental in suggesting content for InfoFacil that addressed issues unique to the country such as civil rights and housing issues. The website will continue to be maintained by One Economy editors with support from local NGOs.

"We have been encouraged by the strong commitment and support of Mexico in bringing broadband opportunities to its residents regardless of income," said Moustafa Mourad, President of One Economy's international subsidiary, One Global Economy. "Community support and leadership are essential to promoting innovation that leads to economic development."
