Cisco, NightHawk Radiology Services to Showcase Use of Cisco Unified Computing System for Healthcare Industry Data Centers

SAN JOSE, Calif. - July 23, 2010 - Cisco will host a live Internet TV broadcast and Q&A session featuring NightHawk Radiology Services, which provides high-quality, cost-effective services to approximately1,600 healthcare sites, including 26 percent of all hospitals throughout the United States. NightHawk Radiology Services has selected the Cisco Unified Computing System® as a highly available and scalable platform for the company's new main data center, helping to ensure that patients receive timely service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Special guests for this show include:

  • Ken Brande, vice president, information technology at NightHawk Radiology Services, who will discuss the changing IT requirements of healthcare service providers and next-generation data center architectures needed to house and manage radiology data.  Brande will provide insight into how the IT department at NightHawk Radiology Services helps manage 3 million radiology studies per year globally, and will address how IT management can integrate new data center technologies to provide valuable return for enterprise organizations.
  • Christopher Smith, manager of data center infrastructure at NightHawk Radiology Services, will detail how NightHawk Radiology Services planned and deployed a highly available and scalable data center to better support patient-care needs and growing business requirements, while providing cost savings to the company. Smith will detail his organization's use and results of Cisco data center technologies, including the Cisco Unified Computing System, Cisco Nexus® data center switches and Cisco MDS storage solutions.
  • David Harrison, technical lead for the Cisco UCS practice for World Wide Technology, will discuss the NightHawk Cisco Unified Computing System and Cisco data center portfolio deployment, including planning and execution.  He will also address data center industry trends such as unified fabric and unified computing that result in business opportunities for IT industry resellers and partners.
