FOX Selects Cisco Digital Stream Processing to Complete Transition to Digital Broadcasting and Support Network Affiliates

SAN JOSE, Calif. April 22, 2009 - Cisco announced today that the Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) is updating its national broadcast affiliate network by deploying the Cisco® Digital Content Manager (DCM) at its main Los Angeles location (FNC - LA) and at approximately 200 FOX affiliate stations across the United States. The Cisco ROSA® Network Management and Element Manager (EM) systems and the Cisco DCMs will help enable seamless switching (MPEG splicing) between local and national program feeds.

Facts:

The Cisco DCM delivers the ability to meet FCC-mandated service requirements including the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) to support the transition to all digital broadcasting.

The Cisco DCM offers improved graphic overlay capabilities including animated logos, text crawls and weather updates.

The redundant system provides a primary and backup Cisco DCM at each FOX affiliate site for enhanced service reliability.

Remote diagnostics performed by the Cisco ROSA Network and EM systems assist affiliates with rapid response/resolution with broadcast service delivery issues.
