WARSAW, Poland, August 5, 2005 - Cisco Systems announced today that Telefonia DIALOG, the second largest telecommunications operator in Poland, has selected Cisco Internet Protocol Next Generation Network (IP NGN) technology for its multi-service IP backbone. The next-generation backbone network, based on Cisco 12000 Series routers, is designed to support the delivery of new multimedia "triple-play" (video, voice and data) services to Telefonia DIALOG's 450,000 residential customers in Poland and to deliver IP business connectivity services to enterprise customers. The system will be delivered and deployed by Cisco system integration partner, NextiraOne.

Working with Cisco and NextiraOne, Telefonia DIALOG is building one of the most advanced IP networks in Poland. "The development of communications technology requires continuous network evolution to speed the flow of information. By having a coherent vision for our technical strategy, we are able to provide our customers with a broader services portfolio, which combines the highest quality with competitive prices," said Lech Mlodawski, Chief Technology Officer, Telefonia DIALOG. "Using Cisco technology in our next-generation IP network will give us a high-performance, highly reliable platform to deliver the most advanced services to our customers and provide the flexibility to help us adapt quickly to changes in market demand."

The next-generation IP backbone, based on the Cisco 12410 and Cisco 12006 Series routers, will provide 2.5 Gigabits per second (Gbps) transport capacity, with the flexibility to easily upgrade to 10 Gbps. "The intelligent architecture of Cisco's IP NGN solutions offers customers the ability to create revenue-generating services cost-effectively and to keep pace with the accelerated evolution of IP network systems," explained Dariusz Chwiejczak, General Manager of Cisco Systems Poland. "Combined with the easy scalability of our solution, Telefonia DIALOG will have an IP network capable of both driving and supporting rapid growth."
