GENEVA, June 13th, 2005 - Cisco Systems® today announced that, building on the success of last year's inaugural MIS Training Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Executive Summit, it will once more act as lead sponsor for the event. The summit, on June 16 and 17, 2005, will feature presentations from Cisco security experts alongside a number of the world's leading information technology (IT) security chiefs.
Topics at the event, which is also being sponsored by BT, BSI Management Systems, Qualys and VeriSign, will range from combating Internet messaging fraud to risk management in financial institutions. Vincent Bieri, security technology marketing manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and José Escasain, market development manager for EMEA, will be making presentations on behalf of Cisco to complement talks by senior security personnel from organizations as diverse as Abbey Bank, ICI and the United Nations Board of Auditors.
"This is the second year the event has been held and the second year we have sponsored it, against a backdrop of increasing awareness of security concerns in IT," said Vincent Bieri. "The summit aims to give CISOs a chance to talk and listen to their peers in the industry, and to learn how to put security at the core of their business.
"In an environment where Internet worms spread across the world in a matter of minutes or even seconds, security systems and the network itself must adapt and react instantly. The foundation for a self-defending network is integrated security, with security that is native to all aspects of an organization."
