CANONSBURG, PA - October 7, 2004 - TelCove, a leading provider of business critical telecommunications services to enterprise customers and carriers, today announced that it has formally launched Remote Access Virtual Private Network (VPN), the first of many TelCove VPN services, based on Cisco equipment. Utilizing Cisco VPN 3000 Series Concentrators at the customer site and the Cisco 7600 Series Routers in the network, these services have earned the Cisco Powered Network designation.
TelCove has launched a secure, managed remote access solution that will enable end-users to remotely access their enterprise network through the Internet. With TelCove's Remote Access VPN, its customers' telecommuter and mobile employees have secure, remote access to resources on their corporate network from any location.
"TelCove's acceptance into the Cisco Powered Network Program demonstrates its commitment to providing high-end network services based on a Cisco network," said Kirt Jorgenson, director of service provider marketing, Cisco Systems. "TelCove also benefits from its Cisco Powered Network designation through joint marketing and technology sharing with Cisco."
"We are excited about the Cisco Powered Network designation," said Craig Drinkhall, senior vice president, product development and engineering at TelCove. "We believe the combination of the Cisco 7600 Series routers within our core IP backbone and Cisco VPN 3000 series concentrators at the edge will provide the level of security, scalability, and reliability in the new VPN offering that customers expect from TelCove."
TelCove provides and manages the customer's VPN accounts and the VPN Customer Premise Equipment, the VPN gateway device. By outsourcing a remote access VPN solution through TelCove, its customers may minimize their overall infrastructure investment and are able to focus their IT resources on other areas of their business. Additionally, TelCove's Remote Access VPN is a scalable service that meets business growth.
David Parks, senior analyst, telecommunications strategy United States, The Yankee Group, stated, "More and more enterprises are turning to managed remote access services to offload the complexity of providing secure, flexible, and high performance connectivity to a growing mobile workforce. TelCove's new remote access service enables them to compete for a share of this market, which we forecast to reach $883 million by 2008."
