WASHINGTON, D.C., AUGUST 9, 2004 - The Enterprise Communications Association today announced that Edison Peres has been named Vice Chair of its board of directors. Peres is vice president of Worldwide Channels, Advanced and Core Technologies for Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader of networking for the Internet.

"Business productivity is driven largely by the ability of enterprises to adopt new technologies, and the rate of adoption is a function of the health of the channel and its ability to evolve," said Peres. "Cisco helped found ECA to focus industry resources on the urgency of developing suitable business models for channels in the current industry environment. I look forward to supporting ECA's objective in helping channels profitably evolve, as well as develop the services emphasis that is critical to success within the channel today."

Peres is responsible for the development and implementation of Cisco's worldwide channel strategy for advanced and core technologies. His primary responsibility is to design the go-to-market channel strategies and programs that will help enable channel partners to successfully adopt and promote technology solutions. His team focuses on identifying new routes to market, new partners and helping existing partners sell solutions and services that respond to customer needs.

Peres is serving as co-Vice Chair of the ECA Board with Stanley Blau, Managing Director, PS Capital.

ECA Chairman Richard Zimmerman, NextiraOne, Vice President, Marketing, said, "I look forward to working with both Edison Peres and Stanley Blau. Their experience and stature offer ECA a formidable resource for programs that will bolster the distribution channel's capacity to support the wide range of applications and solutions being offered today." Blau has an extensive history as a senior executive for numerous public companies and has served continually on industry association boards helping to launch the competitive equipment industry and opportunities for indirect distribution.

Peres brings more than 20 years of successful sales, product management and marketing leadership in the networking, communications (VoIP, CRM, Messaging, Telephony) and computer markets, to Cisco. Before joining Cisco, he served as Vice President, Channel Sales at Avaya. Prior to his tenure at Avaya, Peres held numerous sales, product and marketing management positions for Lucent Technologies, AT&T, Panasonic and Texas Instruments.
