Cisco Systems Names New Board Member

SAN JOSE, Calif., November 11, 2003 - Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced the appointment of M. Michele Burns, 45, to its board of directors.

Burns was elected to Cisco's board on November 11, 2003 at a regularly scheduled board meeting. She will also serve on the company's audit committee.

"Michele brings dynamic business leadership, financial expertise and broad public enterprise experience to Cisco. During the last four years, she's been instrumental in leading Delta through a period of significant industry transition. Her experience will be a valuable contribution to Cisco as it continues to position itself for future growth," said John Morgridge, chairman of the board, Cisco Systems.

Burns currently serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Delta Air Lines. She joined Delta in January 1999 and is a member of the Delta Air Lines Executive Council, reporting directly to the CEO. Burns has broad responsibility for finance, supply chain management, corporate real estate, risk management, investor relations, business development and Delta Technology, the airline's technology subsidiary. Previously, she served as partner at Arthur Andersen, LLP. She is also a director of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Orbitz, Inc.

With Burns, Cisco's board continues to have 12 members, including: John P. Morgridge, chairman of the board, Cisco Systems, Inc.; Carol A. Bartz, chairman and CEO, Autodesk, Inc.; Larry R. Carter, senior vice president, Cisco Systems, Inc.; John T. Chambers, president and CEO, Cisco Systems, Inc.; James F.
