SAN JOSE, Calif., November 13, 2003 - "Cisco has consistently supported efforts to allocate unlicensed spectrum for wireless LAN, Internet access and other broadband uses.
The FCC action today shows that Chairman Powell and all of the commissioners understand that wireless devices, applications and services are one of the most important growth areas in today's economy. The mobility that these applications allow improves the productivity of American workers and increases the reach of Internet access in American homes. Today's decision will benefit consumers, industry and the competitiveness of the American economy by enabling more widespread access to wireless broadband applications.
The FCC has created a balanced spectrum policy that recognizes the value of unlicensed spectrum, which increases technological innovation and corporate investment, and speeds the growth of wireless technologies. We applaud the FCC for its leadership in this area."
