Mr. Walsh has been with Cisco for eight years and has more than 22 years experience in the information technology (IT) industry. He was appointed managing director for Cisco's operations in Australia and New Zealand in 1999. In this position, he led significant sales growth in core and advanced networking technologies. He also became the first managing director to introduce a localised mission statement, which not only reflected business goals of the organization, but the desire to use Internet technologies to promote the betterment of society and education. Cisco's work with The Smith Family in Australia since 2000 has reflected that philosophy. During 2001, The Cisco-Smith Family partnership won the Prime Minister's Award for Community/Corporate Partnerships. Under his leadership, Cisco was awarded the Best Employer in Australia by Hewitt Associates and the Australian Graduate School of Management in both 2001 and 2002.

Mr. Walsh will co-chair the Canadian eBusiness Initiative (CeBI), a position previously held by Mr. Allard. A private sector-led partnership, the CeBI aims to further Canada's e-business success by focusing on productivity, leadership and innovation.

Mr. Walsh assumed leadership of Cisco's Canadian operations on July 1, 2003. Prior to working for Cisco, he held positions across Australia and the Asia Pacific region, including the general manager of Asian operations for a multi-national IT company.
