BANGKOK, Thailand - June 10, 2003 - Cisco Systems, Inc., has appointed Asawin Kangvolkij as managing director of its operations in Thailand. Asawin replaces Vorkon Patra-Yanan who was promoted to regional managing director of Cisco's Indochina operations. Asawin will take responsibility for all of Cisco's sales and marketing activities in Thailand.

Asawin was one of the pioneers of Cisco's Thailand office and joined in 1995 as a sales and channels manager. He has progressed strongly within the organisation and has been a consistent performer in the company. Prior to his promotion, Asawin led Cisco's service provider operations where he helped the leading carriers in Thailand build next-generation converged voice, video and data networks. His first hand experience with customers of all sizes and his managerial skills will serve the company well as it looks to expand its presence further in the country.

"Thailand is one of Cisco's fastest growing markets in Asia and we need a proven and capable leader like Asawin to continue to build on our successes here. Cisco has a tradition of hiring strong local talent to positions of responsibility and Asawin is another example of that trend," said Vorkon.

Asawin has over 15 years of experience in the IT industry and has worked in a variety of companies. Prior to joining Cisco, some of his previous jobs include sales manager of Control Data (Thailand) Ltd and Director of Automation Systems Division of Vidhayakom Public Co. Ltd.
