ATLANTA, GA + SAN JOSE, Calif., June 2, 2003 - Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO), today announced industry-leading subscriber scalability, dynamic service creation, and performance for broadband aggregation networks. These Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) platform enhancements are enabling service providers to generate additional per subscriber revenue while lowering operating and capital expenditures.

Cisco® is doubling the subscriber density of the Cisco 10000 Series Router to support more than 60,000 simultaneous active sessions for the widest variety of broadband architectures. Cisco is also leading the Ethernet subscriber services market by adding a new Multiprocessor WAN Applications Module (MWAM) for the Cisco 7600 Series Router that powers up to 32,000 active sessions per module for first-of-its kind intelligent Ethernet subscriber services creation.

Platform enhancements include support for Cisco Service Selection Gateway (SSG) and Cisco Subscriber Edge Services Manager (SESM) offering per subscriber customizable on-demand services, branded Web portals, service-based authorization and accounting, and service and subscriber management increasing service provider revenue opportunities.

The new enhancements to the Cisco 10000 Series allow carriers to deliver robust ATM-based broadband services for residential and highly available business-class customers, while allowing carriers to extend beyond traditional access into Ethernet-based services with the Cisco 7600 Series.

The Cisco 10000 Series is used by carriers to deliver integrated private line and broadband aggregation capabilities for business and residential customers, enabling carriers to enter new markets and reduce network elements thus streamlining network operations. Powered by the new, next-generation Performance Routing Engine 2 (PRE-2) network processor, the Cisco 10000 Series delivers line-rate performance for more than 60,000 simultaneous sessions with critical per-subscriber-service features enabled, such as security and traffic policing. Coupled with industry-proven, high availability features, the Cisco 10000 Series now supports an industry first of more than 400 sessions per second setup rate, which greatly increases network uptime and availability.

"Cisco has enabled EarthLink to cost-effectively deliver robust , high-quality services to our subscribers via the Cisco 10000 Series, said Greg Collins, Director of Network Engineering, EarthLink. "Utilizing Cisco products is a win-win for EarthLink and our customers; we become more efficient in our service delivery and our end-users enjoy outstanding service quality."

The new MWAM for the Cisco 7600 Series delivers up to three gigabits-per-second (Gbps) throughput per module for 32,000 subscribers, allowing providers to deploy the next generation of high-performance entertainment, communications and broadband applications over Ethernet-based access technologies such as WiFi and metro Ethernet. The Cisco 7600 Series represents the industry's first router to offer integrated, high-density Ethernet switching, carrier-class IP/MPLS routing and 10G interfaces coupled with robust broadband aggregation and service selection technology.

"Cisco offers the industry's most robust solutions for the growing broadband market. Our Broadband Aggregation portfolio enables customers to streamline operations while reaching new markets," said Prem Jain, senior vice president, Cisco Routing Technology Group. "The Cisco 10000 and 7600 series enhancements extend our capabilities beyond traditional dial-up, DSL and Cable markets to offer innovative subscriber services to the emerging Ethernet, WiFi and mobile wireless markets."
