SAN JOSE, Calif., April 21, 2003 - Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) today announced that the carrier-class Cisco® uBR10012 Universal Broadband Router and industry-leading BTS 10200 Broadband Telephony Services Softswitch have obtained PacketCable™ 1.0 qualification in CableLabs® Certification Wave 25. The BTS 10200 and the Cisco uBR10012 now join the previously qualified Cisco uBR7246VXR, giving Cisco multiple cable modem termination system (CMTS) platforms with PacketCable 1.0 qualification. In addition, CableLabs granted DOCSIS® 1.1 qualification to the Cisco uBR7100.

By meeting the requirements of PacketCable, current and future customers are assured that these products have been determined by the testing as capable of supporting the delivery of data and voice services efficiently and economically using a single quality-of-service (QoS)-enabled network architecture.

"PacketCable qualification is a major milestone towards the cable industry's vision of widely deployed broadband telephony services," said Paul Bosco, vice president, Cable Industry Marketing, Cisco Systems. "PacketCable platforms, along with telephony applications must now be integrated and tested end-to-end to ensure successful deployments. Cisco is committed to scalable, resilient DOCSIS and PacketCable-based telephony solutions that can truly deliver on the promise of cable-delivered voice services."

"CableLabs could not have been more pleased with the results of the Cert Wave 25", said Dr. Richard R. Green, president and CEO of CableLabs, "We greatly appreciate the support we have received from companies like Cisco, and their qualification in Cert Wave 25 is further validation of their commitment to the process."

The Cisco BTS 10200 Softswitch serves as an interface to enhanced, converged voice-and-data services and application platforms.

The Cisco uBR10012 is part of the company's Intelligent Broadband Edge line of CMTSs and provides the most advanced IP and radio frequency (RF) capability available today. It has the ability to support up to 80,000 subscribers on a single chassis. And it provides the power and flexibility to meet cable operator's service challenges.

With the completion of Cert Wave 25, the Cisco uBR7100, a complete Layer 3 CMTS supporting up to 2,000 subscribers, becomes the third Cisco CMTS in its portfolio to receive DOCSIS 1.1 qualification. In addition to these CMTS products and the BTS 10200 Softswitch, Cisco offers an end-to-end portfolio of routing, switching, transport, provisioning, and gateway products for the cable industry that are field proven and extensively tested to help ensure a pre-integrated solution.
