LITTLETON, Colo., February 3, 2003 - Time Warner Telecom (Nasdaq: TWTC), a leading provider of metro and regional optical broadband networks and services to business customers, today announced that its Native LAN metro Ethernet service, based on Cisco Systems optical networking equipment, is bringing high-speed data connectivity to large- and medium-sized-business customers in 14 markets, with plans for future expansion. In addition, with its Native LAN service, Time Warner Telecom has achieved the Cisco Powered Network designation.

As a member of the Cisco Powered Network program, Time Warner Telecom will participate in joint marketing and sales activities with Cisco. This agreement allows Time Warner Telecom's account executives to use Cisco Systems sales and consultative marketing expertise to reach additional customers and pursue new business opportunities in current markets.

"Cisco shares our vision that the IP network is the foundation for delivering business solutions that will provide our customers with tremendous benefits," said John Blount, Time Warner Telecom's Executive Vice President - Field Marketing. "With this combined effort, we bring the expertise of both our organizations to a consultative sales process. Enterprises will benefit from the expertise of Time Warner Telecom and Cisco as we implement next-generation applications."

As part of its Native LAN service, Time Warner Telecom uses components of the Cisco Complete Optical Multiservice Edge and Transport (COMET) portfolio including Cisco ONS 15454 and ONS 15327 Multiservice Provisioning Platforms (MSPPs). In this solution, the Cisco ONS 15454 and ONS 15327 provide multiservice capabilities along with line-rate Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, delivering fast LAN-to-LAN data connections and enabling increased productivity for customers. Combining data traffic with existing voice and time-division multiplexed (TDM) traffic ensures that wavelengths are efficiently packed and bandwidth is most effectively utilized. Gigabit Ethernet delivers low cost per bit for data transport, carrier-class reliability, and scalability for high-bandwidth services.

"We continue to see transparent LAN services and Gigabit Ethernet as key drivers of productivity and profitability. By maximizing service density to enable high-speed metro Ethernet connectivity, Time Warner Telecom continues strategic differentiation and brings greater value to its customers," said Rob Koslowsky, Cisco Systems' Director of Marketing - Optical Networking Group. "As a Cisco Powered Network provider, Time Warner Telecom assures business customers their mission-critical network services will be robust and reliable and we look forward to continuing to work together to enable the highest-quality services based on industry-leading solutions."

Time Warner Telecom's participation in the Cisco Powered Network program demonstrates to individuals and businesses its ability to provide industry-leading services that are based on Cisco solutions. Time Warner Telecom also benefits from its Cisco Powered Network designation through joint marketing and technology sharing activities with Cisco.
