KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - February 11, 2003 - Cisco Systems Malaysia has appointed Choi Chik Choy as channels director for Malaysia. He will be responsible for the development and implementation of Cisco's country channel strategy as well as day-to-day channel operations, including partner training, customer satisfaction and marketing programs. He will also oversee technical development, certification and specialization programs for Cisco partners and distributors in Malaysia.

Choi, who was previously Cisco's senior manager for systems engineering, is one of the pioneer staff of Cisco Systems Malaysia when he joined the company in 1995. As senior manager for systems engineering, he was responsible for building and leading Cisco's skilled technical sales team, while providing the technical leadership and product know-how to strengthen business partnerships with Cisco's enterprise customers in the banking, education, utility and government sectors.

Cisco's channels are an important part of the company's ability to reach its customers. The channel will become even more important for Cisco as networking hardware becomes increasingly complex and customers demand complete solutions for their networking needs.

A main focus this year for Choi will be to ensure that Cisco's channel partners are constantly trained to implement the latest Cisco technologies and solutions. Cisco encourages its channels to attain specializations in key areas such as IP telephony, wireless LAN and security.

Choi has eighteen years experience in the IT industry working for a variety of companies such as IJM Berhad, WANG Computers and Far East Computers. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas.
