SAN JOSE, Calif., October 2, 2002 - Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO), today announced a powerful set of new hardware, software and provisioning capabilities for its broadband aggregation portfolio, boosting scalability and performance while lowering deployment costs for broadband services. Cisco is doubling the session capacity of the Cisco 7200 and 7400 Series routers and is offering the industry's highest subscriber density on the Cisco 10000 Series Router. These capabilities further extend Cisco's industry leadership in price/performance for broadband aggregation.

Leading service providers like Internet Gold and Onvoy have deployed Cisco Broadband Aggregation solutions and can benefit from the new Broadband Access Center, a fully integrated provisioning and management solution for broadband aggregation networks coupled with additional dynamic auto-provisioning capabilities all of which are used to accelerate the delivery of value-added services such as: virtual private networks (VPNs), network-based firewalls, content filtering and personalized portals.

"Working with Cisco to service-enable our network was an important decision. The Cisco Broadband Aggregation portfolio allows us to scale our session capabilities, simply adding capacity as we grow -- creating network efficiencies while lowering operational cost at the same time," said Arik Alster, chief technology officer for Internet Gold. "As we expand our broadband service offering to include high-value services like MPLS VPNs, network-based subscriber firewalls, personalized portals and local caching, only Cisco, with unmatched investment protection, enables us to maximize the customer experience today, while building the foundation for future offerings."

"Onvoy prides itself in being a state-of-the-art service provider. In developing our next-generation broadband services portfolio, we chose the Cisco 10000 Series router at the edge, coupled with the Cisco 12000 Series in the core of our network, to enable the most cost-effective suite of IP/MPLS services including voice, video and VPNs with a goal of making communication simpler and services easy to access for our customer base," said Fritz Hendricks, chief operations officer, Onvoy.

"The Cisco Broadband Aggregation portfolio accelerates profitability while lowering total cost of ownership with the industry's leading price/performance model -- critical success factors for today's service providers," said Mike Volpi, senior vice president and general manager of the Cisco Router Technology Group. "Customers like Onvoy and Internet Gold are now able to benefit from the highest session scalability and dynamic autoprovisioning capabilities to deliver the most robust set of value-added services to their end users."
