BANGKOK, Thailand - September 25, 2002 - Cisco Systems, Inc., has promoted Vorkon Patra-Yanan to Regional Managing Director of its Indochina operations. Reporting directly to Owen Chan, Vice President for Asia, Vorkon will be responsible for all of Cisco's sales and marketing activities in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.
Vorkon has been Cisco's Managing Director for the Thai market for the past eight years, and he established Cisco's first office in Bangkok. He has built a strong sales and marketing team, as well as network of channel partners, which have established Cisco as the Internet and networking provider of choice to service providers, enterprises and commercial organizations in Thailand.
"Vorkon has demonstrated exceptional leadership and customer focus in Thailand and we are confident that he can build a strong presence for Cisco in the emerging markets of Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar," said Chan.
"With these three countries becoming more integrated into the ASEAN organization, we anticipate demand for Cisco's Internet and networking solutions. More importantly, we want to become a trusted advisor to organizations in those countries as well as contribute to the communities as much as possible."
Vorkon has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry and has worked in both the United States and in Thailand. Prior to joining Cisco, some of his previous jobs include General Manager at Sahaviriya Data Systems, Managing Director at Central Advanced Systems and Country Manager at Data General Systems (Thailand). He has a Bachelors in Business Administration from Assumption University and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Texas University.
