Cisco Systems appoints Frankie Sum as Managing Director for North Asia covering Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines

HONG KONG - July 16, 2002 - Cisco Systems, Inc., has announced the appointment of Frankie Sum as Managing Director for North Asia, which covers Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines.

Reporting to Owen Chan, Vice President for Cisco's Asia Operations, Mr. Sum will be responsible for Cisco's operations in the three diverse markets. Mr. Sum was previously Managing Director for Cisco Hong Kong.

"We are pleased to have Frankie taking on this new role. His excellent track record in managing diverse markets within Cisco and his strong background in engineering and sales management will help expand our business in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines," said Mr. Chan.

Mr. Sum joined Cisco in 1996 with over 20 years of experience in engineering and sales management positions. Since then, he has been instrumental in establishing Cisco as the largest supplier of networking and telecommunications equipment in the SAR of Hong Kong and Macau. Mr. Sum also played an important role in expanding Cisco's presence in the Greater China region before turning to focus on the company's business in the SAR.
