New facility in Kolkata will further enhance customer experience by providing 24x7 Service and Support

KOLKATA, India - June 14, 2002 - Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today launched its first Rapid Fulfillment Depot (RFD) in Eastern India in Kolkata. The facility will stock parts and supplies for the entire range of Cisco products, enable 24x7 services and support to customers and reduce delivery cycles to four hours for products and spares. Further, it will provide support to Cisco's customers by reducing their inventory levels.

The RFD will strengthen Cisco's presence in the East and help address the networking needs of this fast growing market. It will support Cisco's customers and will provide the company a roadmap to grow its channel ecosystem in the East. The new RFD reiterates Cisco's commitment to customer satisfaction in India and follows the launch of its Service Logistics Facility in Bangalore in October 2001.

"Networks today provide a clear competitive advantage to enterprises and service providers. Further, they support mission critical applications and need to be robust to ensure minimum downtime. That is the guiding philosophy behind Cisco RFDs, to ensure quicker turn-around time to customer requests for products and spares," said SV Ramana, Vice President, Systems Engineering, Cisco India and SAARC.

"The launch of Cisco's RFD in Kolkata will help our partners effectively reduce their spares inventory levels. Further, this will also enable them to offer more effective after-sales services and support and help address the possible network redundancy concerns of their customers. Thus, resulting in higher customer satisfaction levels." added Mr. Ramana.

With this new RFD, Cisco now has six (including facilities in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad) RFDs in India enabling it provide after sales services and support to its customers anywhere in India. India now has the second largest number of RFDs in the Asia Pacific region, excluding Japan, behind Australia.

In addition to the RFD, Cisco Systems provides its customers and channels with core support services that include 24x7 access to Cisco's Global TACs (Technical Assistance Centers) for backup support; Access to Cisco IOS software upgrades and enhancements; registered access to CCO (Cisco Connection Online); and advance replacement of hardware. These initiatives provide a complete support infrastructure to Cisco customers and provide the highest standards of customer service and support.
