Cisco appoints Thomas Lam as Vice President for Customer Advocacy Organisation in Asia Pacific

HONG KONG - June 20, 2002 - Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today appointed Thomas Lam as Vice President, Asia Pacific, Customer Advocacy Organisation. Based in Hong Kong, Mr. Lam is responsible for the unit's solutions consulting business and support services in the Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Lam was formerly Vice President, Enterprise Line of Business for Cisco China, responsible for directing the company's enterprise business throughout the PRC. In his new capacity, Mr. Lam will be working closely with Gordon Astles, President for Cisco Asia Pacific, to deliver quality solutions consulting and services to key customers. He reports directly to Wim Elfrink, Senior Vice President, Global Theatre, Customer Advocacy, who is based at Cisco's headquarters in San Jose.

A veteran of the China IT market, Mr. Lam has more than 16 years of experience in the IT industry. Prior to joining Cisco in 1998, Mr. Lam was Deputy Managing Director for Compaq China with the responsibility for all of the organisation's sales functions. Prior to the Compaq/Digital merger in 1998, he was the country manager for Digital China.
