BANGKOK, Thailand - May 8, 2002 - The Faculty of Information Technology in King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Lardkrabang is upgrading its network backbone with equipment from Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. The network upgrade will enable the faculty to meet present and future education and research and development requirements as well as keep pace with the latest technology advances. The faculty's long term goal is to become the center of IT training in Southeast Asia.

The network expansion, to be implemented by Datacraft Thailand Co. Ltd., will comprise a variety of Cisco Catalyst Switches, Routers, Cisco Aironet Wireless LAN and Cisco PIX Firewall.

Said Associate Prof Dr Wichien Premchaiswadi, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Lardkrabang: "Because the faculty offers programs that directly deal with IT research and development, we must ensure that our network infrastructure is capable of supporting our growth and is up to international standards."
