200 branches across India to get connected using Cisco solutions

NEW DELHI, India - February 13, 2002 - Bangalore-based Vysya Bank, today announced a tie-up with Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, to launch its "VysyAmulya Project" which will network 200 of its branches across India in two phases. The national network will add to the bank's offering of Retail and Corporate Banking solutions - by offering easy inter-city transfer of funds and will enable AAA banking, as well as initiate new services such as Internet banking and ATM switch. As of date 25 bank locations have already been networked, the full nation-wide network rollout will complete within next one year.

With the setting up of this network, Vysya Bank can offer the entire range of Business-to-Consumer and Business-to-Business e-commerce applications. This Project will enable fully secure, robust, reliable network for Vysya Bank to run real-time, business critical applications for their customers.

The VysyAmulya Project involves setting up a redundant network for running the critical online applications have been designed using a 3-tier architecture. The network hub resides in the data centre located at Bangalore, ITPL premises. Cisco 7500 series core router will be the backbone for this entire network located in the data centre. The distribution centre would have dual Cisco 3600 series routers, which would provide high availability services at that level, along with the aggregation of all the leased lines in that zone. At the access level Cisco 1700 / 2600 / 3600 series routers are located, based on the requirements at those locations.
