Cisco Systems Announces Appointment of Owen Chan as Vice President, Asia Operations

HONG KONG - 20 February 2002 - Cisco Systems, Inc, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today announced that it has appointed Owen Chan as Vice President of Asia Operations. Mr. Chan was formerly Cisco's Vice President, Customer Advocacy, Asia Pacific, and was responsible for the company's solutions consulting business and support services in the region. Mr. Chan will be based in Hong Kong.

Cisco's Asia territory includes all Cisco operations in Hong Kong, India, Indochina, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.

Mr. Chan will report to Gordon Astles, President, Asia Pacific, Cisco Systems. "Owen Chan's extensive background and experience, as well as his excellent reputation for leadership and customer focus, make him ideally suited for this role. We are very pleased that he will be leading our Asia team," said Mr. Astles.

Prior to joining Cisco Systems in December 1999, Mr. Chan was Vice President of GE Information Services, Asia Pacific and Japan Operations, with overall responsibility for the company's sales, services and acquisitions in the region. He also held a number of other high-profile roles within General Electric including Country Manager for the company's Greater China region and Regional Managing Director for North Asia Operations.
