(NYSE: TLK) "TELKOM", today announced that Cisco Systems' Cisco 7600 Internet Routers will form the foundation of PT TELKOM's nation-wide core Internet protocol (IP) network. Spanning 94 major cities throughout the country, the new network will dramatically increase Internet access speeds and bandwidth in the country.
Utilizing Cisco 7600s will enable PT TELKOM to break through service and bandwidth barriers and create profitable, value-added service offerings including IP-Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), video and voice convergence, network-based security, and "e-applications" such as e-learning, while meeting their customers' demands for faster, higher performance networks. The Cisco 7600 Series Internet Router delivers optical wide- and metropolitan-area network (WAN and MAN) services with high-touch IP services at the network edge. Service providers can "service-enable" their networks at optical speeds, providing competitive advantage and service differentiation.
