(NASDAQ: CSCO), the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, is today's keynote at Comdex 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Chambers will address the profound impact afforded by network-enabled business and technology solutions and how companies and countries around the world are driving productivity and profitability during these volatile economic times by creating networked virtual organizations to leverage the potential of the Internet. In a new technology demo, Mr. Chambers will demonstrate some of the ways that mobile technologies are changing our lives. This demo will include key Cisco technology such as Cisco's IP soft phone, virtual private network (VPN), Mobile IP in Cisco IOS. software, content delivery networks and a sneak peak at next generation wireless technology based on the IEEE 802.11a standard.

In a series of other announcements made today, Cisco introduced a new feature-enhanced version of its Cisco Aironet 350 Series wireless local area network (LAN) solution; a global alliance with IBM to enable business-class mobility for professionals who are working on the road and at home; results of an independent study by NOP World Technology, the first study to substantiate productivity gains achieved by organizations using wireless LAN technology; and a new customer, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Inc, expected to outfit 100 percent of the Fairmont Hotel properties with secure, reliable, high-speed Internet access in guest rooms and conference facilities by early 2002.
