ATLANTA, GA, October 15, 2001 - BroadSoft, Inc., the leader in service delivery systems and voice applications, today announced that bConvergent, a leading provider of network private branch exchanges (PBXs), is commercially deploying BroadWorks-based enhanced telephony services to its small to medium sized enterprise (SME) customers in Washington, DC, with plans to expand to 15 more cities including New York and Philadelphia.

bConvergent is using BroadSoft's industry-leading BroadWorks platform to deliver customers a robust set of web-enabled IP Centrex enhanced telephony services including conferencing, call forwarding, voice mail, follow-me-anywhere calling, and auto attendant. Recognizing the need to quickly and easily deploy these enhanced telephony services, bConvergent selected BroadWorks along with leading voice gateway and Voice-over-IP solutions from Cisco Systems. BroadWorks and Cisco have partnered to enhance interoperability between their products, making it easier for customers by providing a complete solution. Further, BroadWorks enables bConvergent to rapidly expand its markets without substantial capital expense.

"We selected BroadSoft because of BroadWorks' proven record as the best platform for providing enhanced IP Centrex services," said Ron Whelan, Director of Channel Sales, bConvergent. "Our relationship with BroadSoft enables bConvergent to further our commitment of meeting the communications needs of enterprises who want hosted voice services and advanced applications."

bConvergent is an industry leader in the provisioning of convergent voice and data network solutions, and the only communications ASP capable of delivering services anywhere in the United States through a nationwide network of VARs and agents. bConvergent's unique portfolio of hosted and on-site infrastructure solutions eliminates the need for businesses to purchase or maintain complex systems by replacing traditional hardware-based systems with software-based solutions. bConvergent's enterprise networking solutions enable businesses to reduce capital expenditures while implementing greatly enhanced functionality and security.

BroadWorks enables bConvergent to offer their business customers innovative, customized, enhanced services without a large capital investment. Additionally, BroadWorks' unique architecture enables bConvergent to take advantage of channel partners to reach more customers and allows resellers to add new customers on their own so that they are not required to interface with the wholesale provider for each new customer.

"The combination of industry-leading BroadWorks voice-enabled platform and Cisco voice gateways will enable bConvergent to deliver a robust set of web-enabled hosted voice services," said Peter Clarke, Director of Voice Marketing, Cisco. By using this solution, bConvergent can quickly ramp up to deliver the enhanced packet-based services the market demands."

BroadWorks is the industry's first complete service delivery system that enables service providers to offer a rich set of web-enabled user-friendly enhanced telephony services. BroadSoft's BroadWorks' highly scalable, flexible architecture and capabilities provide comprehensive packet-based telephony applications including small-to-medium sized enterprise (SME) Centrex services, enterprise networking and network private branch exchange (PBX) replacement. It cuts across circuit and packet technologies, allowing service providers to roll out packet-based telephony services with incremental investment to their network infrastructure. In addition to the comprehensive set of services, BroadWorks also offers web-based enterprise and service providers administration features. It also integrates with key business tools such as Microsoft Outlook. Capabilities and services can be customized and managed via BroadWorks' web-based portal, CommPilotTM, which provides an alternative user interface for enhanced services, replacing the flash-hook and star codes of a standard phone.

"We are pleased that bConvergent has chosen our modular, feature-rich platform to deliver innovative telephony solutions and value added services to its ASP customers," said Scott Wharton, vice president of marketing, BroadSoft. "We are confident that BroadWorks will play a vital role in helping bConvergent meet the market demand for enhanced and easily managed business services."
