HANOI, Vietnam -- 31 August 2001 -- Saigon Software Park (SSP) has completed the installation of a state-of-the-art infrastructure with technology and equipment from Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. The multi-service IP-based network was designed to handle leading-edge applications, enabling companies in SSP to optimize their business operations.
SSP's network was built on an open standards-based environment, on Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data). SSP will provide member companies and other customers with a wide range of applications such as high-speed Internet access, Voice over IP, Video over IP and e-business services. In addition, the network is compatible with other technologies such as Frame Relay, ATM, and leased lines.
Cisco AVVID provides not only for the deployment of converged network services combining data, voice and video over a single infrastructure but also enables enterprises to be more agile and competitive in the knowledge-based economy.
The installation of SSP's infrastructure was rolled out into phases along with the development of services and technologies. In the first phase, SSP deployed the fundamental Cisco IP switching infrastructure for core services. This solution provides the high-speed Internet access as well as connectivity with external networks. SSP plans to connect its network to other agencies and software centers throughout the country with the aim of providing additional value-added services in the future.
In subsequent phases, SSP implemented a variety of applications such as Voice over IP, Video over IP, virtual offices and e-business services.
