PLEASANTON, CA - July 3, 2001- Appiant Technologies, Inc., (Nasdaq:APPS), a leading Unified Communications and Unified Information (UC/UI) provider, today announced that it has entered into a joint market trial agreement with Verilytics, Inc., a developer of customer relationship management (CRM) portal technology. Under the agreement, the companies will explore UC/UI market potential for Appiant inUnisonTM "enhanced e-mail", a select component of the inUnisonTM service that will allow users to call into their inUnisonTM portal and have email read to them by using simple voice commands. Currently, the companies are developing plans for the September launch of a three-month inUnisonTM "enhanced e-mail" market trial to one of Verilytics' Fortune 500 clients. A full roll-out of the complete inUnisonTM service -including unifying e-mail, fax, voice mail, calendar, and contact manager together in one location, as well as conferencing, single number reach (follow-me) and call rebound (boomerang) functions - is anticipated upon successful deployment of the market trial.

Companies such as Avon Products, Inc., Sallie Mae and the Wakefern Food Corporation (ShopRite Supermarkets), use Verilytics technology to communicate online with customers, partners and other business audiences. By integrating inUnisonTM into its service offering, Verilytics will be able to further customize the services it offers to clients.

"Our portals reach a variety of people, from Avon's 500,000 U.S. Representatives, who run their own businesses, to ShopRite customers interested in the supermarket chain's newest offers and products," said Andrew Canellos, director of business development at Verilytics. "Because each client serves different audiences, we're committed to providing them with an ever-expanding selection of cutting-edge benefits, such as Appiant's inUnison application."

Shared Vision of "Cisco Powered Network"

In separate announcements, Cisco awarded Appiant's inUnisonTM service and Verilytics' offering, each the status of Cisco Power Network services under Cisco's recently introduced "IP Telephony Services" designation. The inUnisonTM advanced speech recognition engine, certified by Cisco infrastructure, transforms a mobile communication device, such as a cell phone, into a virtual office by enabling users access to information from their inUnisonTM portal, including voicemail, email, calendar and contact files, by using simple speech commands.

"Cisco shares our vision - that the Internet Protocol (IP) network is the most effective medium for providing our customers with the seamless connectivity they demand," said Doug Zorn, Appiant's CEO. "The need for inUnison's virtual connectivity exists in many industries, from real estate and insurance to e-tailers. By deploying Cisco's proven technology - and teaming with companies like Verilytics that create online communication tools - we're ahead of the curve in the UC/UI market place and intend to reap the rewards of early differentiation."

Verilytics' Canellos added, "Our clients look to us for the latest in new technology - products and services that help them capitalize on the Internet's true potential. Therefore, we're pleased to be part of the Cisco Powered Network and serve as a bridge between the network's partners and our diverse array of end users."

"Together Appiant and Verilytics are well positioned to meet the needs for packet telephony services," said Kevin Outcalt, senior director of marketing at Cisco. "By achieving the Cisco IP Telephony Services designation, they demonstrate their commitment to their customers to provide them with the highest level of network reliability and security."
