SAN JOSE, Calif. - June 18, 2001 - Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO), the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today announced that UBS PaineWebber, a member of the UBS financial services group (NYSE: UBS), has selected Cisco content networking solutions to increase employee productivity by accelerating the performance of both Intranet and Internet sites.
UBS PaineWebber will install Cisco CE-507 Content Engines throughout its retail branch offices. Once completed, the branches' capability to use the Internet for bandwidth-intensive market research, trading applications and media-rich content will be significantly enhanced. Currently, UBS PaineWebber's wide area network (WAN), built exclusively of Cisco routers, will work in conjunction with Cisco Content Engines to support the firm's 392 branch offices nationwide.

Cisco Content Engines are content networking products that accelerate content delivery, ensuring maximum scalability and availability of content. Rich media files can be proactively distributed to Cisco Content Engines at the network edges for local access to e-business applications such as e-learning, e-commerce, knowledge sharing, and corporate communications.
