India's first New World Workplace inaugurated

New office enables productivity by enhancing anywhere, anytime work preferences

MUMBAI, India -- 15 May 2001 -- Cisco Systems Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today inaugurated its New World Workplace (NWW) office in Mumbai. This is the first office in India to be designed along the lines of the futuristic NWW concept with an objective to create a flexible, productive work environment. The effective use of state-of-the-art technology for work enhances anywhere, anytime work choices, reiterating Cisco's position as not only the leading provider of Internet technologies but also as the leading adopter of innovative New World solutions.

Cisco's NWW strategy provides for a wide variety of workspaces for use for mobile and visiting staff, namely Just-in-time offices, Unassigned workstations, Quiet rooms, Prayer room, Collaboration areas and Touchdowns. Cisco's NWW strategy has been implemented in over 80 offices across the globe, and aims to provide the same flexible, scalable, productive, and innovative workplaces in Mumbai.

During the inauguration of Cisco's first NWW office in Mumbai, Manoj Chugh, President, India and SAARC, Cisco India said: "Cisco has a belief in creating a dynamic and positive work environment for its employees. The new office in Mumbai will also be a showcase of Cisco's technologies with employees utilizing Cisco IP Phones and Cisco Aironet wireless networking solutions. The other technologies supporting NWW include VPN or Virtual Private Networking (high speed access from home) and WRT (web-based desk reservation systems).
