What: The Cisco CVA122 Cable Voice Adapter, the only multi-protocol voice cable modem with high-performance data and voice, and a migration path to the newest industry standards, was selected as a finalist in the Communications Technology's Readers Choice Awards 2001. With its advanced voice and data routing capability, the compact CVA122 is truly an intelligent, high-value device for small or home office (SOHO) applications.

How: Nominated as the finalist in the CT Reader's Choice Award Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) category, the criteria used to select the Cisco CVA122 Cable Voice Adapter included its excellence in technological innovation, feature set, interoperability and adherence to recognized industry standards, and contribution to broadband telecommunications growth and advancement.

Prior to the introduction of the Cisco CVA122 Cable Voice Adapter, cable operators had to select less flexible platforms that were unable to adapt quickly to changing deployment strategies or voice over cable architectures. The unique design, and extensive voice and data feature set of the CVA122 IOS software-based voice platform provides true flexibility, supporting more call signaling protocols than any other voice-enabled cable modem on the market. The Cisco CVA122 supports H.323, SGCP, MCGP and PacketCable NCS, providing the flexibility and investment protection to enable profitable service deployment in today's rapidly changing market.

During the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, Cisco will demonstrate the market leading functionality of the Cisco CVA122 Cable Voice Adapter in booth #1358 as part of its H.323 demonstration. The hands-on interactive demonstration will show how cable operators can deploy voice services today without having to make a final decision regarding which voice standard they will adopt. This provides a low risk business approach and immediate access to a new source of revenue as part of a primary- or second-line voice strategy.

As the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, Cisco is committed to helping cable operators accelerate the deployment of new revenue generating services. In addition to its H.323 demonstration, Cisco will be featuring cable solutions for MDUs, cable network management tools as well as live presentations on Open Access, branch office VPN, VPN telecommuter and DOCSIS 1.1.

When: SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2001, May 9-11, 2001
