TAIPEI, Taiwan -- 30 May 2001 -- Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, has teamed up with Internet Service Provider Infoserve to launch Cisco Internet Mobile Office in Taiwan. The Cisco Internet Mobile Office initiative is an ecosystem of service providers, application service providers, and systems integrators that will offer secure, high-speed Internet access to users outside the traditional confines of the office. Infoserve is the first partner of Cisco to roll out this service to mobile professionals in Taiwan.
The Cisco Internet Mobile Office solution will be showcased at Computex Taipei 2001 to be held at the World Trade Center on 4 – 6 June 2001. Companies participating at the show are offered free connections to Cisco Internet Mobile Office and users will have the opportunity to get a free trial of this solution.
The Cisco Internet Mobile Office seamlessly extends an organization's internal network by providing mobile users with secure, high-speed access to the Internet and corporate resources in 'hot spot' public access locations such as airports, hotels, convention centers and restaurants. Key to this solution is a range of wired and wireless products from Cisco, including an end-to-end security solution based on the Cisco Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology.
Based on Cisco Internet Mobile Office, Infoserve will roll out its isIMO service providing wireless broadband Internet access to enterprise customers. At Computex Taipei 2001, Infoseve will set up isIMO at its booth located on the second floor of the exhibition hall to provide broadband Internet service to users. Staff at the booth will help users install a wireless LAN card and they will be able to try the new service – browse the Internet, load or save information anytime, anywhere in the exhibition hall.
According to an IDC report, there are about 4.5 million mobile professionals worldwide who make the business and information exchange via the Internet.

Features of the Cisco Internet Mobile Office solution includes quick and easy wireless and wired network access, secure enterprise network access, and convenient billing system including roaming service settlements. Subscribers to the service will have to install a wireless LAN card and the solution is based on the Cisco VPN technology which supports secure remote-access computing.
