NEW YORK and SAN JOSE, CA -- May 10, 2001 -- AOL Time Warner, and Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today announced expanded technology and marketing relationships.
Under the agreement announced today, Cisco will continue to be a leading provider of end-to-end, best-of-breed technology products, services and solutions across multiple AOL Time Warner divisions including America Online and Time Warner Cable. In addition, AOL Time Warner will continue to work with Cisco on the development of leading edge products and services for the consumer market.
The terms of the technology agreement enable AOL Time Warner to double the capacity and coverage of the AOL Transit Data Network (ATDN) by adding routers from the Cisco 12400 family of Internet routers. The added capacity, performance, and scalability realized with the new Cisco 12400 family of products provides AOL with the ability to increase network size and support the growth of the AOL family of interactive brands. Of particular note is the significant growth of AOL Time Warner points of presence (POP) within this agreement.
As part of its enhanced marketing relationship with AOL Time Warner, Cisco will continue to advertise across a wide range ofAOL Time Warner online properties, including the AOL service andFortune.com. Cisco will also continue its longtime marketing relationship with AOL Time Warner print and cable divisionsincluding Time Inc. and Turner Broadcasting.
By utilizing AOL Time Warner's ability to provide a full range oftraditional and interactive media to meet its advertising,sponsorship and marketing needs, Cisco is joining the growing ranks of top companies looking at AOL Time Warner to provide a wide range of media options.
