S. Devarajan joins Cisco Global Development Center in India as Vice President

BANGALORE, India -- 23 April 2001 -- Cisco Systems Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, announced today the appointment of Mr. S. Devarajan as Vice President of the Cisco India Global Development Center (GDC) in Bangalore. Mr. T.S. Srinivasan, in charge of Cisco's GDC since 1999, will return to Cisco Systems' headquarters in San Jose, California.

Mr. Devarajan is a graduate from IIT Kharagpur and has 23 years of experience in IT industry. Prior to joining Cisco he was the Managing Director of Tata Elxsi. Mr. S.Devarajan is well known in the IT industry in India and he presently also holds the position of Vice President of the Manufacturers Association for Information Technology (MAIT) in India.

Cisco Systems India Private Limited (CSIPL) currently employs approximately 600 people in the Cisco Global Development Center in Bangalore and in its sales offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Calcutta. In addition, employees from Cisco's partner development centers are fully dedicated to supporting Cisco's R&D efforts in the Cisco WIPRO development center, the Cisco Infosys development center Bangalore and the Cisco HCL development center in Chennai.

Cisco Systems remains fully committed to Research & Development activities on next generation networking technologies and solutions. Cisco's activities in Bangalore and Chennai include development and testing of Cisco IOSTM software, Network Management software, Asics and other technologies such as Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Voice Over IP (VOIP) and Optical Internet working.
