San Jose, Calif. - February 7, 2001 - Cisco Systems announced today its Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data) Partner program, an interoperability testing and co-marketing program enabling leading hardware, software and services firms to work with Cisco to develop and deliver innovative e-business solutions such as customer care, e-commerce, supply chain management and workforce optimization to customers worldwide.

The Cisco AVVID Partner Program offers customers a broad choice of integrated applications, platforms and services that extend their Cisco network infrastructure investments. Customers who utilize Cisco AVVID open standards for greater interoperability benefit by easing the migration to new technologies while minimizing integration costs. Combining the Cisco AVVID architecture and Cisco software solutions with verified interoperable Cisco AVVID partner solutions provides the framework for companies to meet their business needs today and in the future and enables them to maintain a competitive edge in today's e-business environment. Cisco AVVID partners' products and services must pass rigorous lab tests and interoperability criteria to insure conformance with Cisco AVVID integration standards.

"The Cisco AVVID Partner Program offers economic opportunity for our ecosystem partners and is strong validation of our commitment to expand the reach of our intelligent, end-to-end IP solutions enabled by the Cisco AVVID architecture and Cisco software solutions, which provide a technical framework for successful e-business," said Peter Alexander, vice president of marketing, Enterprise Line of Business at Cisco Systems.

Cisco AVVID, an open, standards-based architecture, allows third-party products and services to seamlessly integrate into a robust end-to-end networked solution. Achieving this interoperability through a broad range of integration interfaces, including Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and industry standard protocols, the Cisco AVVID partner program allows multi-vendor solutions to work together on a common, converged IP network. In becoming Cisco AVVID Partners, companies support and share a commitment to interoperate with Cisco platform technology through open interfaces.

"The seamless integration between ISI and Cisco Converged Communications Solutions, enabled by Cisco AVVID, provided Digital Media Campus with a robust solution for call accounting and billing," said Eugene Lee, director of information technology, Digital Media Campus. "Cisco's open architecture provides customers the ability to optimize an IP infrastructure, recover phone expenses and detect potential fraud."

The Cisco AVVID Partner Program currently offers a wide range of integrated solutions and expertise in the areas of IP Telephony, Security, Virtual Private Networks and Network and Service Management that utilize the Cisco AVVID multiservice architecture. In the coming months, customers can expect to see the addition of Storage Networking, Metro Optical, Customer Contact, E-learning, Videoconferencing and Content Networking solutions, providing a comprehensive set of e-business solutions to meet their needs.
