Dantel and Cisco Systems in Development Agreement for IP Based Alarm Management Solution for Service Providers

San Jose, CA, December 8, 2000 - Dantel, Inc., a leading provider of alarm management solutions for network service providers, today announced they have entered into a development agreement with Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, to deliver an integrated IP-based alarm management solution for discrete alarms to service providers. Under the terms of this agreement, Dantel will design and develop an alarm monitoring, control, and management network module for Cisco's family of 2600/3600 modular multiservice platforms. The Cisco 2600/3600 series are the key elements of Cisco's Data Communications Network (DCN) solution for out-of-band operations management. The DCN solution is just one of many solutions enabled by the Cisco 2600/3600 modular multiservice platforms. The newly developed module will give service providers the flexibility to integrate network alarm, control, and management functions into Cisco DCN-enabled platforms.

"This agreement brings together two recognized industry leaders: Cisco Systems for IP based networking and Dantel for network monitoring and control. The combined effort of both companies will result in the integration of network routing and management functions in one platform", according to Alan Hutcheson, President and CEO of Dantel, Inc."Our goal is to provide customers with a superior alarm management solution for convergence of existing legacy telephony and IP networks, as well as new networks currently being deployed", said Mike Floyd, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Service at Dantel.

"We are simplifying DCN implementation for service providers by combining two separate surveillance devices into a single platform. Integrating Dantel's technology into Cisco's DCN-enabled platforms allows our customers to be the true beneficiaries of the agreement," said Larry Lang, vice president of service provider marketing for Cisco. Both companies agreed that this development agreement is a first step in an evolution of operations management and networking that has positive implications for their mutual customers.
