Infoserve Deploys Cisco Systems Solution for ADSL Broadband Network

Cisco 6400 Universal Access Concentrator Improves Network Stability and Guarantees Value-Added Services

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- 9 August 2000 -- To reach the goal of "three million Internet users" before the end of the year, the NII Task Force is shifting into higher gear on the Broadband Network Implementation Project with a minimum bandwidth targeted at 64 Kbps. To realize the goal of "Broadband to Home," Taiwan's specialized network service provider, Infoserve, has announced that it will deploy Cisco 6400 Universal Access Concentrators in its ADSL broadband network infrastructure. Infoserve will also use Cisco Service Selection Gateway (SSG) solutions to provide differentiated bandwidth levels and billing plans for users' varying needs. These moves are expected to effectively meet the market demand for rapid broadband service implementation.

Featuring a service selection interface, end-to-end quality of service and higher accessibility and expandability, the Cisco 6400 Universal Access Concentrator will extend Infoserve's ADSL broadband service into virtual private network (VPN), virtual private dial-up network (VPDN) and IP telephony applications. Infoserve's special iOL interface for multimedia service integration, combined with Cisco's bandwidth-on-demand technology, will enable users to easily obtain voice, data and video from a single web page without worries for network congestion on the Internet.

The Cisco 6400 Universal Access Concentrator enables dynamic selection and delivery of dedicated broadband network services, such as high-speed Internet access, multipoint videoconferencing, streaming video, entertainment-driven traffic, and secure access to corporate networks (for both voice and data services). It is a modular, redundant system that combines the richness of Cisco IOS ATM switching and routing capabilities in a scaleable, NEBS level 3-certified and ETSI-compliant platform.

The Service Selection Gateway (SSG) offers end users a menu of services.
