HTE8 Receives Cisco Powered Network Designation

HOUSTON, TX - August 2, 2000 - HTE8, a broadband network service provider working with emerging and medium-sized businesses, announced its roster of Internet access and dedicated private network services powered by Cisco equipment. HTE8 will provide broadband connectivity, including fixed wireless and digital subscriber line (DSL), along with virtual private network (VPN) and Internet Protocol (IP) dedicated private network services to its customers. HTE8 also announced its designation as a Cisco Powered Network. HTE8's participation in the Cisco Powered Network program communicates to businesses its ability to provide industry-leading technology solutions and services over a Cisco-based network.

"Our relationship enables HTE8 to offer its customers advanced New World services such as encrypted VPNs over layered switching technology and redundant, high-speed connections," said Kevin Outcalt, senior director of service provider marketing for Cisco. "By using a designated Cisco Powered Network service, HTE8 customers can be confident they are receiving an industry-leading network service built on high-performance, reliable and secure components."

Deploying the Cisco WT 2700 Technology Suite for broadband fixed wireless connections - the Cisco VPN 5008 for carrier-class managed VPN services; the Cisco 7513 for routing; and the Cisco Catalyst 6509 for core switching - HTE8 provides its customers with high-performance, customer-focused, reliable and secure network services. HTE8 operates and maintains a state-of the-art network designed to accommodate IP-based applications and traffic.

"Cisco shares our vision that the IP network is the foundation for delivering business solutions that provide our customers with a strategic competitive advantage," said Bill Stuart, CEO of HTE8. "By deploying Cisco's market-leading technology, HTE8 maximizes efficiency, speed and profitability for its target market, growing and medium-sized businesses. Our task is to assist our clients by Internet-enabling their business, and our participation in this program enables us to do this quickly and effectively."
