COSTA MESA, Calif., August 30, 2000 - Epoch Internet today introduced MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) capabilities based on networking solutions from Cisco Systems to businesses nationwide. In addition, Epoch Internet's IP backbone has received Cisco Powered Network status.
Epoch will be using Cisco-enabled MPLS technology, which allows for thorough traffic engineering. Implementation of high-performance Cisco solutions will improve Epoch's time to market with value-added services including individual customer filtration, best exit routing and total packet control. Using Cisco 12000 Series Internet routers, and Cisco 7500 and Cisco 7200 series routers, Epoch is designing a lower latency network, resulting in a higher quality of service.
