RICHARDSON, TX - June 2, 2000 - Cisco Systems, Inc., the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, today announced plans to expand its presence in Richardson, Texas' "Telecom Corridor." The expanded facility is part of Cisco's plan for growth in the area with groundbreaking planned for August of this year.
The new site will accommodate up to 5,000 employees and will be built over the next two to three years, an increase of roughly 4,000 employees in the area. The site consists of 71 acres of land along President George Bush Turnpike. Upon completion, the site will include six to eight buildings totaling approximately 1.7 million square feet of office space.
"This expansion clearly demonstrates our commitment to this area," said Joe Bass, vice president and general manager of Cisco's optical networking group. "The Telecom Corridor is not only an exceptional geographic location, but offers knowledgeable high tech and telecommunications specific personnel, suppliers and manufacturing resources."
